Fashion Trend and Sustainability: Voice of International Brands
This blog intends to define fashion trends, especially in the words of famous brands. So that fashion seeker could think mindfully before making lusty expensive purchases to look trendy. Fashion chameleons spend dollars and dollars on things that they already own, with bit differences, in the lust of looking trendy and chic. This blog is not supposed to discourage new purchasing. After all, clothes manifest the self-reflection and make you half-way between where you want to be. But fashion adopters must think in a sustainable way when it comes to their outfits. This flaunted arena of pictures, videos, and make-up makes people spendthrift on things they could easily manage out of their existing wardrobes. And me clear, it is not just us (purchasers) who think of or should think of savings, but it is a hook area for manufacturers too, who strive hard to excel in it.
Sustainability voices of international fashion brands
London-based fashion outfit brand, MERCER7 of Erna Leon, a creative and influential director of industry. She has aimed to open up such a capsule and valuable wardrobe for its customers that they no longer end up dumping up their last season’s clothes. Through her social media accounts’ posts, she proclaims to end up the fussy experience of shoppers on an online platform that has been oversaturated by the time. She is ambitious to promote slow fashion which is few and quality shopping style that could last for a longer period. She wants to improve the online shopping experience, especially for busy ladies. Her business website is not dominated by the repeated similar designs. Shoppers experience quick and evergreen trendy styled designs, arranged in a row on its website to make click and buy easier. How amazingly, in short span, its tagline of little is enough has reached up to 51.1k followers by this date.
Highly galvanized vision and mission of a famous watch brand, MVMT aims to cut straight the fashion definition. It used to call that it is not a fashion that bankrupts ones’ balance. This vision objectifies to change the meaning of fashion among watch wearers. Further, Elan, a Pakistani international clothing brand, highly known for its luxurious ready-to-wear bridal and party dresses. Has designed its couture in a way that could be recycled and re-useable. And has been campaigning to change the traditional eastern wedding wear (lehangas), that later on clinch with cupboard and one hesitate in putting on that again, into reusable ones. However, some apparel brands like Zara, HSY, Sana Safina, and many others have adopted the strategy of fast fashion. And consumers pay 20% extra charge for the sake of good quality, without guarantee that either that buy would last till the next season.
I don’t know when the concept of Good quality only at a High price, will renounce. That, brands have been promoting for a long. Although, newly emerging online retail stores like Elo, one of them, has curated the idea of recycling of resources at fair prices. An applaudable step-indeed.
My idea
What I observe about fashion trends is a slow version of it. No matter how advance ,we are now. Fashion moves in circular form and ends up where it started from. In a family time when all discuss about earlier fashion time. Or whenever, I come up with the old album of my mom’s or grandma’s times and watched them in the old vogue. Always find new epoch things, with bit changes, in decades old vogue. According to my elders, their attire collections had been more standardized and affordable than ours. It is an observation that how an Almira can be reused and recycled again and again, over time. The formula which brands used to adopt, then what’s the issue with us. And consumers, every time, galvanized by the new fashion trends that comes under the old hat. This overspending of the consumers and hoarding of alike designs on shopping websites, have increased the systematic risk. Countermeasures against it, will not only save money with an increase in its constructive usage, but halt the incidents like Rana Plaza, happened on the outskirts of Dhaka city. Known cannot make unknown after knowing it. That event has put a seminal impact on my shopping style and shifted me towards slow fashion strategy.
Conclusion
Shortly, this piece of writing aims to promote the concept of slow but quality fashion. That wants the best usage of an existing wardrobe with valuable purchasing at the fairer price line. Further, dumping of clothes, season by season need to be eradicated, if productive and revenue-generating usage of existing money is the basic purpose. What do you think about slow fashion. Is it possible to promote? Can it be a way towards quality and sustainable fashion trend. I would love to hear your perception and solution towards sustainable fashion.
